Step 6: Clicking Accept will replace the original text with the editor’s correction and will automatically advance to the next proposed correction. In the screenshot below, “editor’s” has been replaced by “editors” and the cursor has advanced to the next proposed correction. To accept all changes in the document without reviewing the proposed changes, click on the drop-down arrow next to the Accept button. Selecting Accept All Changes in Document will replace the original text with all of the editor’s proposed changes.
In Office 2010, documents set to track changes initially display in 'Final: Showing Markup' mode. Even though I still want to track changes, I want the document to display in 'Final' mode. Currently, on each document of this type, I have to go to the Review tab and change document to view in 'Final' mode.
The editor’s comments will need to be removed separately.
My understanding was that this is deliberate so as to force people to realise there are hidden changes being tracked so that they would accept the changes before sending it on to a third party - this has got people into trouble in the past. If you are certain that you want to turn it off then from Word 2010, click File, Options. Click Trust Center, then click the Trust Center Settings button. Select Privacy Options, then deselect the 'Make hidden markup visible when opening or saving' check box. (It might be an idea to then select the 'Warn before printing, saving or sending a file.' Click OK to return to Word Options then click OK to return to Word.
